LTL Fuel Surcharge

A. Duie Pyle uses the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) New England Average price of a gallon of diesel fuel as the base for calculating the fuel surcharge for all LTL shipments. For the week of Thu 09/09/2010, the price of a gallon of diesel fuel is $2.995. The LTL fuel surcharge for today is 19.50% based on this average. The table below illustrates A. Duie Pyle's LTL fuel surcharge guidelines.

Note A : In applying the increase provided herein, first determine the total net charge, and then apply the increase authorized by this item as a separate charge.
Note B : Fractions of less than one half cent or one half dollars will be dropped; fractions of one half cent or one half dollar or more will be increased to the next whole cent.
Note C : The charge will be applied against the following services that consume fuel, including pickup or delivery service; reconsignment or diversion; redelivery; vehicles furnished but not used; and/or any other service not specifically named which consumes fuel.
Note D : Surcharge percentage is adjusted weekly, with the new adjustment taking effect on Tuesday morning of the week of the charge.
Note E : When the DOE New England Regional Fuel average exceeds $2.30, the fuel surcharge percentage will increase 0.5% for every $0.05 increase in the DOE New England Fuel Index Average.
